Sunflowers

During COVID, there’s been no opportunity for in-person workshops, but one of my favorite artists and teachers, Pat Fiorello recently held an online class focused on still life in watercolor. The subject was sunflowers! Because I tend to sketch urban scenes, landscapes, and architecture, flowers and close-up still life is new to me. But trying something new with a beginners mindset is what art workshops are all about!

I loved getting back into a workshop again. The 2+ hours went by so fast! I learned a lot about managing yellows because they all tend to on the light side of the value spectrum. Here’s my result which I am very happy about because it brings back fun memories of learning how to paint with Pat.

Check out Pat’s site where information about the inspirations for her work and upcoming workshops are listed - as well as her beautiful paintings for sale. Her site is patfiorellodotcom.
